TrainsRunner Studio supports the process that includes design, simulation and analysis of results, based on the TrainsRunner simulator. The design of the power supply network is based on circuit diagrams, while the user can edit other data and models by means tables or import them from MS Excel file.
TrainsRunner Studio integrates powerful tools to evaluate simulation results, system performances (also depending on the timetable and the signalling system), the operation of the power supply system, the thermal behavior of the components and the safety in the event of a short circuit. An optional package supports the calibration of protections against short circuits (breakers thresholds).
System design
- Drawing of traction supply diagrams (both AC and DC systems)
- Verification and compilation of supply diagrams to the TRAINSRUNNER data format
- Project debugger (Error tracking to diagram symbols or project data)
- Simulation results stored to database (MS SQL)
- Tools for analysis and post processing of simulation results
- Two layers for positive circuit (Substations, overhead contact line) and for negative circuit (rails, earth circuit, etc.)
- Symbols of the positive circuit: switch and breakers, rectifiers, cables, relays, OHCL wires)
- Symbols of the negative circuit and earth circuit: rails, track circuit, poles, earthing cables, over voltage protections
- Based on the multiconductor model for each section (i.e. arc) of railway line
- Two layers for the traction supply network (graph) and for the interconnecting nodes
- Symbols and component models to design the interconnecting nodes
- Editor for the multiconductor sections of line and for the traction supply network (graph editor)
Charts of simulation results
Train Graph chart
Thermal analysis of system components
- Charts of variables vs time
- Composer of the charts layout (pages and grid)
- Post processing functions (average, RMS)
- The chart of trains operation (Train Graph): line position vs time
- Thermal analysis of system components
- Thermal model application to the components of the supply system, using current or power variables
- Temperature calculation and verification of alert/alarm thresholds
- Charts of temperature vs time
Design and testing of short circuit protection (DC)
Tuning and verification of short circuit protection
Human touch potential verification
- The Tuning Project groups one or more electric substations
- Automated detection of degraded conditions or partial intervention of protection devices
- Batch and parallel simulation of each network condition, moving the SC along the line and substations
- Manual threshold set, automated threshold calculation for high speed circuit breakers
- Protection verification for each network configuration
- Human touch voltage verification (according with EN 50122)
- Tuning report of the devices thresholds, Report of human touch over voltages
- Two versions, aimed to design and simulate DC and AC supply networks
- Includes the TRAINSRUNNER simulation engine (version x.y)
- Stores the simulation results in MS SQL database (version 2012 or newer)
- Import/Export functions from/to MS Excel files (Open XML for Office 2010 or newer)
- The user interface supports the whole process: network design, simulation and results verification
